Website Audit

A fixed-price, one-week review of the website you already have: how it looks, how fast it loads, whether people can find it, and whether it turns visitors into enquiries. You get a ranked list of fixes, each one priced.

Sound familiar?

  • It looks dated next to your competitors.
  • Built years ago, for older browsers, on tools nobody wants to touch.
  • Every page put together by hand, so every change is a chore.
  • Photos and graphics that look blurry or stretched.
  • Slow on a phone, and hard to find on Google.
  • Visitors arrive, look around, and never get in touch.

Some of these you can see; some you can't. We check for both, measure each one against a recognised standard, and tell you plainly what's worth fixing first.

What we check

Six areas, each measured against a recognised standard rather than opinion. We scan every page on sites of up to 30 pages, and the main sections of larger ones; speed is measured on up to 20 representative pages, and your homepage and up to nine key pages get a hands-on review.

  • Design and visuals

Layout, spacing, legibility and the quality of your photos and graphics. Does the site look as good as the business behind it?

    Measured against

Readability and contrast guidelines, and current design practice

  • Speed and technical health

Load times, how the site behaves on phones, security basics, broken links, and how up to date your CMS and plugins appear to be, checked from the outside.

    Measured against

Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds and Lighthouse scores

  • Messaging and enquiries

Does the site say clearly what you do and who it's for? Is the route to an enquiry obvious, and can you tell when one arrives?

    Measured against

Plain-English clarity, and a tracked route to an enquiry from every key page

  • Search and AI visibility

Whether Google and AI search tools such as ChatGPT can find, read and understand your pages: titles, descriptions, headings, sitemap, structured data, your Google Business Profile, and how your pages look when shared on social media.

    Measured against

Google's Search Central guidance and the AI companies' own crawler documentation

  • Content and information

Whether the essentials are there and agree everywhere: your name, address, phone and opening hours. We also look for out-of-date content, thin or duplicated pages, pages that are hard to reach, and copy that's harder to read than it needs to be.

    Measured against

Consistent business details, and a plain-English reading level

  • Accessibility scan

An automated check for common barriers: colour contrast, missing image descriptions, unlabelled forms and heading order.

    Measured against

WCAG 2.2 AA, using automated testing tools

What you get

Everything below is included in the fixed price.

  1. Kick-off call

We agree your goals, who the site is for, which pages matter most, and which competitors to compare you with. If your site's security blocks automated checks, we'll ask you to let our scanner through.

  2. Site scan

Your pages checked automatically for broken links, search and AI visibility, content and accessibility issues: every page on sites of up to 30 pages, the main sections of larger ones. Speed is measured on up to 20 representative pages.

  3. Hands-on review

Your homepage and up to nine key pages, looked at closely for design, messaging and the route to an enquiry.

  4. Competitor comparison

Up to three competitors you name, compared side by side with your site on speed, how well it fits a phone and whether AI search tools can reach it.

  5. A ranked, priced fix list

A written report ranking every fix by impact and effort, with a price for each, so you can see what to do first and what it will cost.

  6. Walkthrough call

We take you through the findings and answer your questions, so you can act on them, with us or without us.

What the report looks like

A sample from a made-up bakery. Each area is scored out of 10 against a recognised standard, then we write the three things we'd do first. The full report goes on to list every fix, ranked.

Sample Website Audit report for a made-up bakery: overall health 4.4 out of 10, scores for six areas from accessibility (2.0) to messaging and enquiries (10), and the three fixes to do first: make the homepage load fast on phones, stop the menu page sliding sideways, and let AI search tools reach the site.
Sample report for Harbour & Hive Bakery, a made-up business. All scores and findings are invented.

How the week runs

  1. Day 1

    Kick-off

Goals, audience, competitors and the pages to focus on.

  2. Days 2–4

    Scan and review

We scan your site and review your key pages by hand.

  3. Day 5

    Report and walkthrough

Your ranked, priced fix list, then a call to talk it through.

Who it's for

A good fit

Any business with a website that's no longer pulling its weight, whatever its size. The price stays the same; the fix list tells you what each improvement would cost.

Not the right fit

If you need an in-depth SEO campaign (keyword research, backlinks, content strategy) or a formal accessibility certification, this isn't it. Get in touch anyway and we'll point you to the right thing.

Questions

Is my site too big for a fixed price?

No. If your site has 30 pages or fewer, we scan every one. Larger sites are usually built from a handful of page templates, so there's no need to scan every page: we focus on your main sections, unless you ask us to cover more. Either way, the hands-on review covers your homepage and up to nine key pages.

Do I have to use you for the fixes?

No. The audit is a fixed £950 + VAT and stands on its own. Every fix in the report is priced, so you can ask us to do some, all or none of it, or hand the list to someone else.

What do you need from us?

Your website address, a short kick-off call, and a few minutes to tell us which pages matter most. We don't need logins to start. If you'd like real ranking data in the report, you can give us read-only access to Google Search Console, but it's optional; if anything else would help, we'll ask on the call.

Does it cover accessibility?

It includes an automated accessibility scan against WCAG 2.2 AA. Automated tools catch many common barriers, but not all of them, so it's a health check, not a compliance certificate.

What about SEO?

We check the basics that let Google and AI search tools find, read and understand your pages. Deeper SEO work, such as keyword research, backlinks and content strategy, is a separate job, and we'll tell you if it's worth doing.

What happens after the audit?

You'll have a clear, priced list of fixes in order of impact. If you'd like us to do any of them, we can start with the ones that matter most, but that's a separate decision, made when you're ready.
