Another chance to get a mini-you made of bio-plastic

A tray of Break the Mould 3D printed mini sculptures in bio-plastic

As a follow up of the popular Break the Mould 3D scanning and printing arts installation, 3Dify is taking part in the New England House Open Studios at the Fusebox, Level 4, on Thursday 12th, Friday 13th, and Saturday 14th December 12-8pm.

Fancy a mini-you in bio-plastic?

This is very novel and unique – you will get a 3D body scan of yourself which takes only a minute or so. Then the clever folk at 3Dify process thousands of files of yourself that make up a 3D image which the 3D printers (Ultimakers) can understand and print layer on top of layer in bio-plastic. Printing an 8cm high figurine takes about 1.5 hours, so the min-you probably won’t be able to join you for your Christmas dinner or hide under the Christmas tree wrapped up as a gift.

Christmas shopping

There are more than 50 artists and makers exhibiting and selling their work at New England House Open Studios as part of the Artists Open Houses 2013. So if you might not be able to wrap the mini-you as a gift under the Christmas tree, but there will be plenty of other unique presents you can buy there. Entry is free and there might even be some mulled wine and mince pies.
