The brief

3Dify is a Brighton-based photogrammetry studio working at the intersection of art, performance, digital production, and creative technology, serving international artists, galleries, museums, film studios, VR developers, and events companies who need high-quality 3D capture and model output. When Developing Dreams came on board, 3Dify was at the very beginning — the brief wasn't to improve an existing presence, it was to create a company: build credibility from scratch, secure the funding needed to develop the core technology, and launch into a market that barely had a name for what 3Dify did.

The challenge

Photogrammetry occupied an awkward position — caught between specialist technology services and creative production, which made it genuinely difficult to position, fund, and sell. Too technical, and the artists and cultural organisations switch off; too soft, and the VFX studios and engineering clients do. Most potential clients had never heard of photogrammetry, let alone considered buying it as a service, so the launch campaign had to educate and excite at the same time — all while Innovate UK funding applications demanded a different register entirely: rigorous, evidence-led, commercially grounded.

Our approach

We developed and led a full company launch — strategy, R&D funding, PR, marketing, and digital presence — treating 3Dify not as a website project but as a business that needed to be built and believed in from the ground up. Funding came first: we worked with 3Dify to secure Innovate UK funding to develop the photogrammetry rig itself and build a commercial exploitation plan, giving the company the technical foundation it needed before any major art commissions could land.

Rather than wait until everything was ready, we built the launch around a live demonstration — giving the media a story to cover before most people had even heard the word ‘photogrammetry.’

The Break the Mould installation at Brighton Digital Festival 2013, which we also produced, became that demonstration and 3Dify's first high-profile showcase — the BBC World Service Click team broadcast live from the scanning rig, with coverage spreading to BBC South East, ITV Meridian, the Guardian's Tech Weekly podcast, and 35 outlets in total. The website itself was designed to lead with outputs rather than process — full-colour photorealistic 3D body scans, hyper-realistic head and object captures — so visitors felt what 3Dify produced was desirable before they understood how it was made.

In their words

“If you need a photogrammetry digital 3D capture, I would give 10/10 — great pricing for artists, nothing is too much trouble.”

Sebastien Boyesen, Sculptor

“The work Ian did was fantastic and was exactly what we needed. The final files were watertight and ready for printing.”

Matt Fox, Merlin Entertainments

Where AI fits next

3Dify's work is well suited to AI augmentation. A conversational project-brief assistant on the website — helping prospective clients work out whether photogrammetry fits their use case, what file formats they'll get, and how the process runs end to end — would shorten the sales cycle for a studio fielding enquiries from artists, engineers, and event producers at once. We'd also look at AI tooling for post-production steps like retopology, mesh cleanup, and texture optimisation: on high-volume activations scanning hundreds of people in a day, even a 20% cut in post-production time per model meaningfully changes delivery speed and margin.
